The Soft White Underbelly was the origin band of Blue Oyster Cult. This book includes the full story of why their lead singer would walk away from a big record contract and one of the greatest bands in American Rock. Was it a matter of principle or just 60s idiocy?

A Lucky Monkey Wanders America and Europe
This is the 2nd Volume of the Lucky Monkey Stories, the tales from my travels in the late 60s early 70s, after I had left my band the Soft White Underbelly. This volume includes my travels in America and across Europe. In it you’ll have a chance to experience America during a time of great upheaval and it’s my hope you will catch some of the excitement and anticipation we all felt while it was happening. I’ve tried to portray some of that and some of the fun as well as we, the young, took control of our lives and reinvented the world we lived in. Beyond that, it was a very different time from today because it was pre-internet as well as pre-cell phone and so many other things that are accepted and common parts of our lives now in the new millennium.My travels took me to San Francisco which was, at that moment almost magical in its originality and accomplishments. More than any other place it was a new city for a new world. Is any of that left today? I think you’ll see that what was being created then lives on in our thoroughly changed world society.After America, this book will take you on a tour across Europe and particularly into the worlds of artists and Gypsies and the other capital of the new society, Amsterdam.

In the late sixties I left the band I was singing with, The Soft White Underbelly (the origin band of the Blue Oyster Cult) and went off to see the world. The tale of the band and those travels are told in the Lucky Monkey stories, beginning with A lucky monkey and the Soft White Underbelly and then A Lucky Monkey Wanders America and Europe and then this one A Lucky Monkey on the Hashish Trail, which takes us from Istanbul to Ceylon.
